La Serra della “Ristorazione Sociale” è una struttura polifunzionale che si colloca all’interno degli Orti Comunali per gli anziani della città di Alessandria. Il progetto è stato promosso dalla Cooperativa Sociale “Coompany &”, che da anni opera nel tessuto sociale alessandrino nel tentativo concreto di coniugare il binomio tra solidarietà e mercato attraverso l’inserimento lavorativo di chi vive in situazioni di povertà o di disagio.
La struttura costituisce un nuovo centro multifunzionale aperto al pubblico che, mantenendo la sua classica funzione di serra prevedendo la dimora di alcuna essenze arboree sulle parti laterali dell’edificio, è a tutti gli effetti una struttura polifunzionale che ospita dibattiti, concerti, spettacoli teatrali, laboratori ed eventi di varia natura.
La struttura è composta da 8 portali in legno lamellare a larghezza e altezza variabili che compongono un “cannocchiale visivo” dalla forma organica su tutta la lunghezza dell’edificio, creando un movimento continuo all’interno e all’esterno della struttura. Tra i vari portali in legno sono inserite le parti trasparenti, prevalentemente serramenti fissi o apribili a seconda della zona in cui insistono, costituiti da pannelli in vetro accoppiato che permettono la permeabilità della luce all’interno e un impatto visivo armonico con il contesto.
La struttura presenta una particolare attenzione agli aspetti ambientali. Da sottolineare, infatti, l’ottima efficienza energetica della struttura: se la serra si comporta climaticamente esattamente come le serre tradizionali, accumulando e disperdendo il calore anche attraverso l’apertura e la chiusura delle velette in legno a bilico poste nelle parti laterali dell’edificio, è previsto solo un impianto di ventilazione meccanica, per permettere agli utenti una gradevole vivibilità sia nei mesi estivi che in quelli invernali.
The “Ristorazione Sociale” Greenhouse is a multipurpose public facility within the Municipal Gardens for the elderly in the city of Alessandria.
The project was promoted by the “Coompany &” Social Cooperative, which has been operating for years in the social fabric of Alessandria in a concrete attempt to combine the combination of solidarity and the market through the employment of those who live in situations of poverty or hardship.
The building constitutes a new multifunctional center open to the public that, in addition to maintaining the classic function of a greenhouse by providing the dwelling of some tree species on the side parts of the building, is used to host debates, concerts, theatrical performances, workshops and events of various kinds.
The building is made up of 8 variable-size laminated wood portals that make up a “visual telescope” with an organic shape along the entire length of the building, that creates a continuous movement between inside and outside. The transparent parts are inserted between the various wooden portals, mainly fixed or opening windows depending on the area in which they exist, consisting of coupled glass panels that allow the permeability of light inside and a harmonious visual impact with the context.
The building pays particular attention to environmental aspects. In fact, the excellent energy efficiency of the structure should be underlined: if the greenhouse behaves climatically exactly like traditional greenhouses, accumulating and dispersing heat even through the opening and closing of the wooden pivot veils placed in the lateral parts of the building, only a mechanical ventilation system is foreseen, to allow users a pleasant liveability both in the summer and in the winter months.
